The FSE Difference

How We Do It

Oklahoma-Based Steel Erectors
with National Reach

FSE is a nationwide steel erection services company that works with general contractors throughout the US. We help general contractors meet division 13 PEMB, conventional and hybrid steel system erection demands for projects ranging from 25,000 to over 1,000,000 square feet.

With decades of experience in both the manufacturing and on-site erection sides of the industry and more than 70 million square feet of installations under our belt, the FSE project management and field implementation teams run every project with safety, efficiency, and expediency at the forefront.

More Than Just Man Hours

Whether you’re in Oklahoma or anywhere else in the US, if you are looking to partner with FSE for materials + erect, or labor only, we tailor our engagement to meet your project’s specific needs. Our leadership team’s experience on both sides of the industry enables us to spot problems early in the process—before their costs multiply in the field.

How Do We Compete with Local Erectors?

Size, speed, safety, and complexity. FSE offers competitive solutions for non-standard projects, and our relationships with local erection companies span decades. We can tap those relationships for your benefit. Our partnerships with trusted local and regional firms help us to deliver nationwide consistency with blended rates so you’re not overloading your project costs with per diem expenses.

We’re in It for the Long Haul

The steel building erector landscape is rife with firms that bid low at the outset, then bleed a job’s profit through costly, late-stage back charges. In the arena of large, complex, and demanding projects, this will not fly for long. Reputation and relationships matter, and we’re fortunate to have developed both over the years.

We’ve Seen It All

Not all metal roofs leak, but unfortunately, the industry is plagued with a reputation for improper standing seam roof system installations. Improper installation results in the need for endlap and roof transition repairs and maintenance much earlier than they should. At FSE, we regularly conduct standing seam repair, maintenance, and restoration services for portfolio management companies and REITs around the country.

Because of this experience, we’ve seen all the major brand and installation errors you can imagine. We’ll put that experience to use on your new construction application and make sure your clients get what they should from a standing seam roof system—40-year weathertight systems with only slight routine maintenance required.

The FSE team has extensive experience in both building system design and erection

Which means we can evaluate plans and identify trouble spots before construction begins, saving time and money down the road.

Proven Performance

FSE Infuses Value into Your Project

FSE is value-driven, safety-driven, and experienced enough to take on the most complex projects.

Construction is hard enough without having to worry about your erector overcommitting their capacity, working unsafely, or lying in wait to hit you with change orders, delays, and roof leak callbacks. FSE is value-driven, safety-driven, and experienced enough to take on the most complex projects.

Steel erection, roof, and wall cladding installation is streamlined and worry-free with FSE at the helm.

Safety_Driven_2x

Safety Driven
Jobsite Efficiency

We’re not here for your average shade and shelter metal building. During the 70M+ sq. ft. we’ve placed into service, we’ve executed projects for global brands and world-class GC and EPC firms in over 41 states. This kind of repeat project engagement doesn’t occur without safety and jobsite efficiency inherent in the value we provide. From estimating, designing and sub-trade collaboration, to sequencing for shipment and shake out, our safety reviews are thorough and strike the balance between productivity and ensuring our teammates return home safely.

FSE Leadership Team

Justin Willett

Justin Willett

President

After witnessing firsthand the legendary performance of Fleming’s steel crews during the 90’s and early 00’s as their pre-engineered building manufacturer’s district sales manager, Justin saw behind the curtain of what it takes to compete and be successful in the industry. Now he’s tasked with applying that wisdom and updating FSE’s offerings for today’s building climate. In his over 23 years industry experience, Justin has worked in various roles from his start in a PEMB plant in Alabama, to years in field sales, to experience working on multiple innovative product development assignments that relied heavily on PEMB building system integration and the development of field installation practices and procedures with builders and erectors across the country.

Ronnie Schmitz

Ronnie Schmitz

Vice President, Western Region

As a 27-year PEMB industry veteran, Ronnie helps the FSE team deliver steel building services that are on time and within budget. With 13 years on the manufacturer side at Butler Manufacturing and Varco Pruden Buildings, Ronnie understands the pre-engineered metal building landscape perhaps better than anyone else. This expertise is coupled with 14 years as a private contractor, during which he was twice awarded Butler Western Region Builder of the Year Awards. Ronnie’s diversity of experience makes him uniquely capable of seeing a project from all sides. He uses this insight to guide the pre-construction and value engineering processes and deliver the type of highly efficient, well-planned projects that make FSE one of the most sought-after steel building partners in Oklahoma and beyond.

Ronnie has a bachelor’s degree in communications from the University of Missouri-Kansas City and is OSHA 30 certified.

Mike Phillips

Mike Phillips

Chief Estimator

Mike Phillips has nearly a decade’s worth of experience estimating projects in the construction industry. With a keen eye for detail, Mike leads the FSE estimating team in creating hyper-accurate bids that result in fewer costly back charges down the road. Mike’s work with the FSE design-assist and constructability review teams has resulted in the successful bidding of over one million square feet of projects to-date.

Mike has a bachelor’s degree in construction technology from Oklahoma State University. He is a certified professional estimator and constructor, and has his thirty-hour OSHA certificate.

Tim Sprouse

Tim Sprouse

Vice President, Operations

As a recognized industry leader specializing in large-scale project implementation and field-crew training, Tim Sprouse oversees all of FSE’s division 13 projects, from strategic design assist all the way through to occupancy certification. With an expertise developed over decades of fieldwork, on builds ranging from 100k to more than one million square feet, Tim is an expert at spotting costly issues before they hit the job site, and he runs each stage of construction with a focus on efficiency, and workplace safety.

Tim is a third-generation ironworker with extensive boots-on-the-ground experience. As an owner/operator, Tim has managed the development of projects in eleven countries for brands including Bechtel, Nike, GM, and Ford. Prior to joining FSE, Tim provided oversight as a superintendent for Costco Wholesale’s warehouse construction program. Overseeing projects in nearly every state in the US, Tim’s projects boasted the lowest leak callback rating of any of the program’s superintendents.
